Introduction

As part of a more enhanced and holistic curriculum, the MPU4 Community Service Initiative module of Taylor’s University was developed with the aim of developing a community of tertiary students to be more responsible, be more sensitive and be more knowledgeable about the community and their needs. This 2-credit-bearing module will require all students to be engaged in some form of Community Service or Service Learning before they graduate as “Service-learning is a form of experiential education in which students engage in activities that address human and community needs together with structured opportunities intentionally designed to promote student learning and development.” (Jacoby 1996 p.5)
